Super sensitive rod with backbone for big fish as well. Have been pounding the walleye with this rod. It is the first rod in my hand every day I hit the water for walleye!
As a multi species guide I look for versatility from the rods I have in my boat and I’ve been very impressed with what Vexan has been putting out in their walleye rod series. I prefer their 7’-7’4” rods in all actions, but the 7’4” MF has to be my favorite rod in the line up. As it handles most presentations I throw with it beautifully. From tight-lining plastics, to snap jigging, slip bobbers, jig and a minnow, pretty much everything except real heavy weight presentations like traps it’ll handle with a supple tip and a strong back bone. The 7’ medium pretty much picks up the rest of the slack for heavier presentations and jerk bait fishing. Not only do I fish walleye on these sticks, but bass as well. I should also mention that, that 7’4” MF is an awesome hair jig rod for smallmouth. If you’re a finesse smallmouth guy, you might wanna seriously consider ordering one. Anyways I hope you find this review helpful, I think you’ll be happy with whatever rods you end up ordering!
I've been using the 7'4 M for a couple of seasons now, it is definitely my do all walleye rod. From jig/minnow, lindy rigging and slip bobbers to snap jigging rattle baits, this is my go to walleye rod. These rods are extremely light weight, comfortable and the most sensitive rods I've used. The 7'4 ML actually makes an incredible high end crappie rod, it's my go to when I'm chasing crappies.
I have been blown away by my new Vexan Walleye Rods. Already caught walleye, bass, crappie, pike, and yes even one musky on these rods this year. It's insane how sensitive they are for finesse fishing and smaller bites, but still have the back bone to easily handle and play BIG fish. I landed the musky on a ML rod with no problems whatsoever (not the target species obviously). Not to mention the countless walleye I've caught this season. Needless to say, these rods have been in my hands most of the season so far!
I have used the Vexan Walleye 8’6” casting MH Mod action rods on two trips now trolling worm harness for walleye. I can say they have superb flex and sensitivity needed to feel those finicky ticks when they are not very aggressive. My wife and I now have three Vexan Walleye Rod’s, and two Tackle Industry Musky Rods, both great products with a fantastic price point.
